Happy First Birthday, McFly!

Yesterday marked a momentous occasion. My baby, my corgi, my Marty McFly turned one year old. He is officially an adult dog now. I'm not going to lie, it hurts a little bit. So let this blog be a testament to his puppy year, and forever immortalize his cuteness. See if you can stand it! This is Marty the morning after Norris brought him home. I had wanted a corgi for months as a companion to my other baby, Keeley, and one night I came home to find that Norris had driven all the way to Woodward and brought back this little guy! Needless to say, I almost died of adorable overload.  This is still how he sleeps. He loooves sleeping on his back. And snoring. And sometimes dreaming.  His first Halloween. He went to the dog park dressed as a frog and promptly, and appropriately, jumped in the pond. He is a great swimmer. Like a little corgi-shaped schooner.  He enjoys riding in the car more than any other dog I know. He settles in and is usually asleep before we have gotten to the h

Zumba Night!

Okay, so, I haven't updated my blog about my weight loss every Tuesday night like I planned. But I am proud to report that not only have I continued to go to the gym at least thrice a week, I even convinced N to join it with me! The exercise thing is going a lot better. Today I even looked at myself in the mirror while I was zumba-ing! For those of you who don't know, Zumba is the new fitness craze. I guess if you were to totally simplify things you would call it a type of aerobic class, but it is really so non-aerobic-y. There is not a lot of pumping, or jumping. It is 100% dancing. A little bit of salsa, a little bit of hip-hop, and tonight, even a little bit of ballet. It gets the heart rate waaaay up, and I always end up drenched in sweat, and best of

Delightful Lemon Cookies

A few weekends ago my little sister did something very nice for me. She threw me (on the same day) both a wedding shower and a bachelorette party. She was truly the hostess with the mostest. She made the whole day all about me and I felt really special, and for the first time it really hit me that in just over a month I will literally be walking down the aisle and promising to live with N. and his computers forever. The point: I wanted to do something to say an appropriate thank-you for doing something so nice. So I decided to bake her some delicious cookies. Then I thought that it might be a good idea if I shared this recipe with the world so that anyone can thank anybody with these cookies anytime they want. This recipe was originally sent to me by my mother. She clipped it out of a magazine and told me that she thought I would love it—and she was right. The article said that they were “edible valentines”, and though I did make them for N. last year for Valentine’s Day, I quickly be
