Juice Fast: DayThree

The scale told me this morning that I have lost seven pounds. I also woke up this morning with a massive headache: the kind of headache that only massive amounts of water, a few hours extra sleep, and a good dose of extra-strength Advil could cure. So, ups and downs.

The hardest part of this whole thing continues to be eating at all. When I think about having to juice fruits and vegetables, I decided to just skip the whole thing because the idea of drinking another meal is so desperately unappealing. Norris is very against this. I think eventually he is going to pinch my nose and pour juice down my throat to make sure that I am consuming an appropriate amount of calories to keep my system running.

I think I am getting better at the actual juicing part though. Tonight for dinner I made a juice containing kiwis, apples, celery, kale, lemon, ginger, and cucumber. It is totally green, but definitely the best tasting vegetable based juice that I have made so far. I think it will definitely become my go-to. Tomorrow I might try broccoli.

I am hoping that tomorrow I will start enjoying this whole process more. I have heard that halfway through you start really feeling great and all your problems go away. But so far I have just been really grouchy and tired. So hopefully tomorrow I will start feeling good. Otherwise I am going to be in for a long seven days.

  1. Keep going. You can make it 7 more days!

  2. I am finding your daily updates fascinating. And your willpower equally as fascinating. Bravo, my friend. Bravo.

  3. That is such a subjective thing to say. "Halfway through?" Who says that, and what if you had committed to 2 whole months? Does that mean 1 full month of feeling crappy? That's a ridiculous thing to say. Mind over matter, Katie! You can feel good NOW! Do it!! (okay...maybe that's overboard. just trying to encourage you.) I think what you're doing is great, and I want to see you make it to the end!

  4. I shouldn't have said halfway through. I am thinking that way because it is halfway through for me--what I have actually heard is that after four or five days you feel a lot better. So, if you are doing it for two months that is not so bad. I can't imagine going for two months though.

Dinner is the worst. This is why I have been struggling with drinking dinner. By the end of the day I usually feel like if I can't have food I don't want anything at all. But this is so much easier with all the encouragement.

    Thanks guys!
